Al DiMarzio's career and business interests in computing technologies, marketing and publishing span more than 40 years.
He was involved in the design, development and implementation of early computer systems for industrial and military applications. As career moves came, Al advanced from corporate R&D through product advanced engineering to corporate technology.
Along the way he spent time as editor/publisher of a technical newsletter and lecturer. He implemented and demonstrated emerging technologies such as design of user-friendly computer interfaces, artificial intelligence, computer graphics design tools and database applications.
In a lifestyle change, Al left the corporate world and bought a retail business in Guilford CT, a historic east coast town. Applying his business and marketing knowledge, gained through the years of advising other companies, he began to "practice what he preached".
Extensive changes were made to re-align the product offerings to the needs of the customers. Brochures, instructional materials, in-house direct mail and other marketing tools were used to promote the product lines. Within two years the revenue stream was reversed and market share was increasing at a time when competitors were showing either flat or declining revenues.
In support of his retail business' marketing objectives, Al made increasing investments in computers and related equipment. It wasn't long before his desktop publishing began to grow as he offered these services to other local companies and organizations. After almost seven years of owning and managing the retail business, Al sold it to concentrate full time on graphic design, desktop and web publishing.
Al's experience in computing systems, graphics and retail business ownership provides the backdrop for HB Graphics: business promotion and growth through web page development, desktop publishing, advertisements, brochures, instructional booklets and what ever else is needed to get the job done.
Al is past president of the Connecticut Association of Rental Dealers, twice past president of the Guilford Chamber of Commerce, and is actively involved in community projects.
Al received a BSEE and MSEE from Northeastern University and has completed corporate and college post-graduate studies.
During his tenure in engineering R&D he received three patents. He has authored over 50 reports and articles on computing technology, business management and marketing, and has conducted seminars on the same topics.
Al was voted Business Person of The Year in 1994 by the Guilford Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the "John Sherry Vendor of the Year" award from the Connecticut Association of Rental Dealers in 1998.
