Kathmandu, Durbar Square area
Small temple area just off of the main Durbar area. Lots of renovations taking place. Very busy with "locals". Not quite what we were expecting from the travel books.

Kathmandu, Sachen Monastery
In the vicinity of the Boudhanath stupa in Kathmandu there are many monasteries. The Rabsel Guest House (where we stayed) is in the Sachen Monastery complex.

Pashupantinath, Hindu temple area
Upon the hill overlooking the main Hindu Temple and Bagmati river is a park-like area of small temples devoted to the god Shiva. A large complex and worth the time.

Swayambhunath, Buddhist and Hindu temple area
Atop a large hill is a sacred space of both Hindu temples and Buddhist stupas quietly sharing the same space. An exceptional place to visit.

Bhaktapur, Durbar Square area (1)
A delightful place to visit, expansive courtyard areas populated with fine buildings and temples. Not too many crowds that day.

Farm village in the hills (1)
In the area of Mulpani our friends, the Lamichhane family, have a typical Nepal house and farm the land. A view at ground level of small garden area and back of house.

Trek in the mountains, Guest House at Timbu
Typical small village built around the trekking trade. The accommodations were spartan at best, the food good, and people very friendly. The beer was cold enough.

Trek in the mountains, village at Tarkeygyang
A destination on the less populated trekking scene, the village offered spectacular views. They also had their own Menestery and many lodges and gift stores.

Henry Whitfield State Museum
Built in 1639 this is the oldest house in Connecticut and the oldest stone house in New England.

Town Green (Fall)
Encompassing almost 12 acres, this town green has been voted best town green on the Shore Line by CT Magazine.

Olmstead Outlook
A small park-like area along the West River created and maintained by the Guilford Land Trust. Wonderful place for a quiet lunch.

WestWoods 'Lost Lake'
Guilford is blessed with many hiking and recreational trails. The WestWoods trail system includes this view of Lost Lake.

Scenic Overlook, Sacandaga Lake
Looking down at the Conglingville Dam and up across the Sacandaga Lake this overlook location offers a great view of the Town of Day.

Cemetery next to Town Hall
Dating back to the early settlers of the area this cemetery is filled with interesting grave stones. Search around and you will find two that are linked to the virtual tour.

Town of Day Museum
Housed in the original Town Hall, this interesting little museum offers many insights into the life and times of both past settlers and present residents.

A sandy point uncovers
When the lake water level is lowered, many sandy shoals are uncovered. This is one such typical shoal, offering hazards to boaters in the Summer, and neat places to walk in the Fall/Winter.

Family Hiking trails
The Adirondack region is blessed with many fine trails, but we've been making our own through our property for friends and grandchildren. This is the start of the Yellow Dot trail.
